Danielle Harris: Horror Icon

Many fans of the horror film genre think of Danielle Harris as a scream queen, I think of her more as a horror icon.  She started in the horror genre over 25 years ago with her portrayal of Jamie Lloyd in Halloween 4.  She has come a long way since then, playing in over 25 horror films as well as a role in the web series Fear Clinic along side horror film legends Robert Englund and Kane Hodder.

After her time as Jamie Lloyd, Danielle took her career in a different direction playing in films outside the horror genre such as The Last Boyscout, Free Willy, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Wish Upon a Star and she even did some voice work on the animated series, The Wild Thornberrys and Rugrats Gone Wild.  Aside from a role in Urban Legend in 1998, her venture outside of the horror genre lasted from 1989 to 2007.

Danielle’s full time return to horror came in 2007 when she was cast as Annie Brackett in Rob Zombie’s remake of John Carpenter’s classic Halloween.  Since then, she has gone on to play in genre favorites Hatchet II, Hatchet III, Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet and Stake Land, just to name a few.  She is currently filming along side genre favorite, Katharine Isabelle in Jen and Sylvia Soska’s See No Evil 2.

Danielle has also stepped behind the camera and has made her directorial debut with the film Among Friends.  This film is a fresh sight for eager horror fans looking for something a little different.  It’s centered on a group of friends who get together for a mystery dinner party that goes terribly wrong.  Danielle also made a surprise cameo in the film.  She showed with this film that she definitely has the chops to be a successful film director.

Recently, Danielle answered some questions for BuzzFeed Entertainment where she discussed her possible acting exit from the horror genre.  As a big fan of what Danielle has given to the horror film industry, I am hoping that that if she does decide to leave acting in horror films that she stays behind the camera and directs some more exciting and memorable horror films for the fans that love her so much.
